The Great Nursery Plan

Now that we know it's a girl kicking Mommy in the bladder at very inoportune times, nursery plans are definitely underway! Yay! We can't actually do anything to the nursery until mid-May when Aunt Penny moves into her place when Uncle Steve gets here, but that doesn't stop me from stockpiling nursery decor. So, here's the grand plan!

The Furniture

We bought a basic wood dresser at a resale shop awhile back and will be painting it white to match the crib. It will have these adorable knobs from Anthropologie I picked up.

The Bedding

These fabrics will make up a quilt, bumper, crib skirt, and curtains that my sister and I will be making.

Wall Paint

We are going to be adding some touches of galvanized metal and using the fabrics also as art on the wall. I can't wait to get started on it!

March Update

March was such a busy month for us!!!

Things we did in March:
1. Found out we are expecting a girl!
2. Went to the Houston Rodeo!
3. Made many hair bows for our little girl!
4. Took a cruise to Mexico, Belize, and Honduras!
5. Had brother-in-law Steve come for a visit!
6. Leigh was nominated for teacher of the year!
7. Picked out nursery bedding!
8. Went cloth diaper shopping!
9. Bought our crib!
10. Planted all our spring and summer veggies!
11. Fixed up our front flower beds!
12. Started our birthing classes.

I'm sure there are about a million other things that I forgot too, but you get the idea. Basically, we've been busy, so I apologize for the lack of updates. I'll be writing some posts in the next week or two to expand on some of those we did.

My Expanding Belly

I started taking belly pictures a few weeks back, but I realized that I had failed to post any on the blog. Since this pregnancy is officially halfway over, it is high time I put some up.

And here are my stats for this week:
How far along: 20 weeks
Total weight gain/loss: Yea, let's not talk about that.
Symptoms: Backache, Peeing all. the. time. Hyper-smell.
Maternity clothes: Absolutely.
Stretch marks?: 2 tiny ones right next to my belly button. They've been there 3 weeks with no additions, so maybe my new oiling method is working. Fingers crossed!
Sleep: Starting to get uncomfortable on my back now along with my stomach.
Best moment this week: Finding our we have a little girl!
Movement: Yes! Especially at night when I lay down.
Food cravings: Pickles and cupcakes.
Gender: 100% XX
What I miss: Sleeping on my stomach.
Milestones: Halfway to meeting her!

It's a.....

GIRL!!!!

We were so happy to find out on Thursday that we are expecting a healthy baby girl. Of course, I already "knew", but it was nice to have documented proof. Here are a few of her shots from the ultrasound.

We have some names in mind for our little girl, but we are keeping them a surprise until she makes her big debut in July. Until then, we'll change her nickname from Bean to Beanette. She is a young lady after all.

Feeling Crafty

Last weekend, my sister and I decided it was time to get a little creative with some baby gear. We hit up the fabric shop and walked away with some cute prints to make burp cloths and bibs with. Our final products....

On Monday, I had the day off of work (thank you President's Day) and I decided it was time I tried out my idea of simple embroidery on a couple of those plain onsies that Penny got me for Christmas. For my first attempts ever at embroidery, I say I did pretty good. I'm looking for some more patterns to try out now.

The first one was a design copied from the internet. Just a simple tree with leaves.

The second was a completely original design made by yours truly inspired by my darling husband's nerdyness. He was very impressed with me to say the least.

We also picked up a dresser at a local thrift store to refub into a changing table/dresser combo. It's a little rough around the edges, but I every confidence in my mad refinishing skills. I think we might get started on that project this afternoon. I definitely post some before and after pictures when we are done.

Nursery Ideas

James and I (but mostly me) have been throwing around nursery ideas lately. I've come up with a boy and a girl idea that I think I would like. We get to find out March 3rd which version we will go with.  Here are my ideas:

For a girl

For a boy
